Williams College, Division III institution and a member of the New England Small College Athletics Conference (NESCAC), invites applications for the position of Assistant Coach of Men’s & Women’s Tennis.
This is a full time, 10-month term appointment with the possibility of renewal. The salary is $26,750 and comes with a full meal plan. The position is fully benefitted and also provides full tuition-remission of graduate school after six months of employment.
The Williams Men’s & Women’s Tennis programs perennially compete for conference and NCAA Championships. The women’s program has won 10 NCAA team titles, 5 NCAA doubles titles, and 1 NCAA singles title. The men’s program has won 4 NCAA team titles, 1 NCAA singles title, and 3 ITA Cup doubles titles. Vital pillars of both teams are fostering a positive competitive environment, building an inclusive community, and continually improving. The Head Coaches of the men’s and women’s program will work with the Assistant Coach to create a schedule where time is divided between the two programs in terms of practices and match coaching. The assistant coach must act with intention and professional boundaries when interacting with the players, as well as support the head coach in all program expectations. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a coach, teacher, and mentor to student athletes.
- Practice planning and execution
- Individual court sessions with players
- Recruiting: correspondence, talent evaluation, on-campus visits
- Team transportation and driving
- Home event management / away game organization
- Administrative office duties
- On-court coaching during matches
- Two-week training trip over spring break
- Film management
- Other duties as assigned by Head Coach
- Collegiate tennis playing and/or college coaching experience
- Knowledge of NCAA and Division III Rules and Regulations
- Three strong character/professional references upon request
- Driver’s license required
