"The chances of coming back are very high," says Serena Williams.
Serena Williams is not done.
Former world No. 1 Serena rates her prospect of a comeback as "very high" after playing what was widely perceived to be her farewell tournament at the US Open in September.
Speaking to a conference in San Francisco on behalf of her company Serena Ventures, the 23-time Grand Slam champion said a comback is the cards.
"I'm not retiring," Williams said. "The chances of coming back are very high. You can come to my house, I have a tennis court."
Reflecting on her game and status since Flushing Meadows, Serena has said she felt she was getting progressively stronger before bowing to Aussie Ajla Tomljanovic.
The four-time Olympic gold-medal champion Williams went warrior mode defeating world No. 2 Anett Kontaveit 7-6(4), 2-6, 6-2 in the US Open second round and has said she believes she can elevate her level if she does come back.
The 41-year-old Serena has previously said she couldn't envision herself playing the pro circuit if older sister Venus Williams retired. To date, Venus has not announced any retirement plans.
