After his lopsided loss to Alex de Minaur on the red clay at Monte-Carlo, Andy Murray is feeling dejected.

The Scot, who won four games and claimed just 35 of 91 points against De Minaur in the drubbing, pulled no punches after the loss.

“I’m pretty disappointed with it, to be honest, because I practised well last week,” he said, according to Simon Cambers of Tennis Majors. “Obviously, I didn’t have high expectations going into the first tournament, I wasn’t expecting to play amazing tennis or feel great on the court, but certainly when you put a certain level of work in and that’s the performance that comes at the end of it, it’s pretty demoralizing.

“I have to have a long think about things with my team and what I do from here.”

The tough day left Murray scratching his head and wondering if he should just slip the rest or the clay season altogether. The problem with that is that there aren’t many other playing opportunities away from the clay.

“So it’s just whether I play the clay court season or whether I miss it,” he said. “I have to have a long think about things with my team and what I do from here, in terms of where I train or do I stick on the clay. It was pretty, pretty disappointing.” Title: Murray Contemplating Clay Court Future after ‘Demoralizing’ Loss at Monte-Carlo
